About PrintPrepTools
Practical calculations for print-ready files.
PrintPrepTools helps designers, photographers, publishers, students, and small businesses turn pixel dimensions into useful print decisions.
Why this site exists
Print preparation often mixes pixels, inches, centimeters, PPI, trim sizes, bleed, and platform-specific requirements. A small mistake can produce a soft print, incorrect canvas, or rejected production file. These calculators keep the formulas visible and turn common print questions into quick, repeatable checks.
Who maintains the site
PrintPrepTools is created and maintained by Leo, a designer with three years of design experience. Leo writes the worked examples, checks the calculator outputs, and reviews corrections sent by readers. The goal is modest and practical: help people catch size, crop, bleed, and resolution mistakes before a file reaches a printer.
How calculations are built
Physical print dimensions are calculated from real image pixels and an explicit Pixels Per Inch value. The site uses the exact conversion of 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters and keeps image PPI separate from printer hardware dot density. Worked examples and accuracy notes explain what each result means and where a print provider's specification must take priority.
How tools are reviewed
Every calculator is checked against its displayed formula and a set of reproducible examples before publication. Unit-conversion results are checked in both directions. Crop examples are verified from the source and target aspect ratios. Where a tool depends on a third-party specification, such as Amazon KDP, the official provider documentation is linked on the page and the review date is recorded.
A review date changes only when the formula, source, example, or practical guidance has been checked again. It is not changed simply to make a page look new.
Privacy by design
Image tools run locally in browser memory. There is no image upload endpoint, image contents are not sent to analytics, calculator inputs are not stored, and refreshing or closing the page clears temporary image data. The site uses Google Analytics to measure page visits and improve the site, but it does not receive the images selected in a calculator. The site currently displays no advertising.
Corrections and feedback
Print standards and third-party publishing specifications can change. If you find an incorrect formula, unclear explanation, outdated source, or compatibility problem, email leo@printpreptools.com or use the contact page. Include the calculator name, the values used, and enough detail to reproduce the issue. Confirmed corrections are applied to the calculator, its explanation, and its recorded review date.
