How this calculator works
This calculator converts digital image dimensions into the maximum physical print size at a selected image resolution. It is useful for photo prints, posters, documents, and production handoffs.
How to use the Pixels to Inches Converter
- Enter the image pixel dimensions.
- Set the PPI that will be used for output.
- Read the maximum width and height in inches and centimeters.
Worked example
A 3000 × 2400 pixel image prints at 10 × 8 inches when placed at 300 PPI.
Accuracy note: Pixel dimensions alone do not define an inch size. The selected PPI is an essential part of the conversion.
Frequently asked questions
How many inches is 3000 pixels at 300 PPI?
3000 pixels divided by 300 PPI equals 10 inches.
Is screen size the same as print size?
No. Browser zoom, device pixel ratio, and physical display density affect screen display. This calculator is intended for print planning.
What is PPI?
PPI means pixels per inch and describes how densely image pixels are placed in a physical print.
What the inch result means
Example: 3600 × 2400 pixels at 300 PPI gives 12 × 8 inches. At 150 PPI the same pixels cover 24 × 16 inches, but the larger print carries only half as many pixels per inch and may show less fine detail.
Avoid these mistakes
- Do not confuse image PPI with printer DPI. They describe different things.
- Editing only the PPI metadata changes the interpreted size, not the underlying pixel detail.
- Do not treat the calculated rectangle as a guarantee that no crop is needed.
Check a real target size with the Image PPI Calculator, compare standard photo sizes with the Photo Print Size Checker, or plan a large-format output with the Poster Resolution Calculator.
