How this calculator works

A 3mm bleed adds 3mm to every edge. That increases both the full width and full height by 6mm. You can change the bleed amount if your printer specifies another standard.

Does 3mm bleed add 3mm or 6mm to the width?

It adds 6mm to the total width: 3mm on the left and 3mm on the right.

Is bleed part of the final trimmed size?

No. The bleed area is intended to be cut off after printing.

Does every printer use 3mm?

No. Confirm the requirement with the print provider. Some workflows use 0.125 inch, which is approximately 3.175mm.
